Shop Assistant - Job Description
About: Ice Cream Alley is a local, independently owned ice cream scoop shop in downtown Greenfield. Operating from April through October, we serve a curated selection of flavors from a variety of high-quality local producers. We are committed to the local community and strive to treat our workers well, activate downtown Greenfield as a social space, and bring a little magic into our neighbors’ lives.
Title: Shop Assistant
Rate of Pay: $15.00/hr, plus tip out based on hourly sales.
Benefits: This is an unbenefited seasonal position.
Purpose: The shop assistant is an entry-level position suitable for people without prior work experience, or with limited work experience. This position assists the lead employee during busy shifts, restocking supplies, cleaning indoor and outdoor spaces, and preparing ice cream. The worker in this position doesn’t interact directly with customers, does not manage the cash drawer, and does not work alone.
Reports to: manager and lead employee.
Hours: Friday and Saturday evenings, generally. Hours will be somewhat weather dependent.
Duties:
Maintains a meticulously clean and inviting environment for customers, indoors and outdoors.
Restocks ice cream, cones, utensils, napkins, and other supplies.
Empties trash, sweeps floors, and wipes down surfaces.
Keeps the production area clean, organized, and well stocked.
Washes dishes.
Produces consistent, properly portioned cones, cups, sundaes, milkshakes, and beverages according to specified standards.
Updates the website with current flavors.
Qualifications:
Massachusetts labor laws require this worker to be 16 or older.
Must be attentive to detail.
Must have a high standard for cleanliness.
